Beautiful piece of cobalt blue carnival glass! Vintage toothpick/match holder featuring Richard Nixon, Indian, Liberty Bell and American Flag. Approximately 2 inches tall by 3 inches wide. Embossed on the bottom Joe St Clair.
I have read that this item was commissioned by the 1976 Bicentennial Commission. Request was for St. Clair to design and produce toothpick holders featuring various political figures and bicentennial inspired designs. One of those toothpick holders featured Richard Nixon, however, he resigned before 1976, the bicentennial year, and these holders were not have been distributed and the molds to be broken. A few managed to escape.. or so the story goes.
